If there’s one thing that Patrick Vieira has made clear, it’s his system. He wants players that can contribute to New York City F.C. and not take up any space.
After Sunday’s transfer regarding Kwadwo Poku to Miami FC, Vieira made it clear to us that he’s not looking at what a player has done in the past, only what he’s doing in the present.

For Poku and Vieira, the last straw was against the New York Cosmos as Poku made some poor decisions. In the beginning of the season, there was a lot of hype over Poku after breaking out late in the 2015 campaign with ex-boss Jason Kreis.
Vieira was not looking into any hype, only for results. Failing to make the 18-man roster for a couple games, the signs were there but no one was sure. With his fitness levels not quite up to par and a new system, maybe Poku was doomed from the start.
Now the question that looms around NYCFC is simple, who’s next?
Who’s next on Vieira’s “for sale” list and after Poku, it could be anyone.
Well, not anyone, but one player that could be shown the door is Mix Diskerud. NYCFC’s No.10 has struggled mightily under Vieira and quite frankly, hasn’t really lived up to certain expectations with the club.
After failing to miss the 18-man roster for a second straight match, the signs are beginning to appear and rumors are already circulating. Since joining the club, Diskerud has made 38 appearances scoring six goals in the process.
As of right now, Diskerud’s situation isn’t getting any better now that his fellow teammates have found success. With Frank Lampard and Jack Harrison slowly picking up the pace along with Thomas McNamara‘s stellar season, Diskerud’s might be numbered.
Along with Diskerud, Tony Taylor could fall on the list as well. Taylor has hit the net once in six games, but along the way has lost his place in Vieira’s tactics.
The Poku sale could just be the beginning with more to come.
