In case one missed it, New York City FC recently released their new primary kit for the 2025 and 2026 seasons. The Excelsior Kit celebrates the 10th anniversary of the club in Major League Soccer and is inspired by the skyscrapers of New York City.
It is not a bad jersey by any means, but compared to past ones, it is not the greatest either. Since the inaugural season in 2015, NYCFC has released six primary kits, six secondary kits, and one third kit. Some were fantastic while others were not great.
Still, after ten years of MLS play, there are enough kits where one can rank the top five jerseys released by the Bronx side. So, without further ado, here are the top five kits in NYCFC history.
The bets kits in NYCFC history
5. The NYCFC inaugural home jersey

The first primary jersey released by NYCFC is the first one on the list. The simple sky blue color with a little bit of white on the shoulders, collar, and sleeves was a great way to introduce the team to MLS. It had a clean look and was nothing too crazy. This is the type of kit that will probably be seen in the future with a different look. Some argue the 2021 home kit draws similarities, but the 2015 one stands on its own.
4. NYCFC's only third kit: the Parks Kit

Third kits are not common in MLS, so NYCFC was one of the first teams to release one in 2023. It is a shame they did not wear it more often, for the Parks Kit is beautiful. It honored the parks of New York City it quickly grew on the fans. The unique design on the front looked like plants and meshed well with the white lettering.
3. The Gotham Kit is a great NYCFC secondary kit

When one hears Gotham, one tends to think of a certain superhero or the NWSL club, Gotham FC. NYCFC's Gotham jersey was a unique secondary one that kept the blues, but was instead different shades of dark blue and navy. The kit was inspired by the Brooklyn Bridge and New York Harbor while representing the vibrancy of the city. The shirt looked great from the pitch whether one was watching in the stands or on TV. Alas, this was not the best secondary jersey.
2. NYCFC's Interboro Kit is the best primary jersey

The best primary jersey NYCFC has released was their last one: the Interboro kit. The subway-like look represented the city's cultures and how everyone is connected throughout all five boroughs. Truthfully, it might be one of the most unique jerseys released by the club, which is why so many liked it.

This might be controversial for some, but the 24/7 Kit is the best NYCFC jersey in the team's history. The shirt's uniqueness while being simple and clean makes it one that fans will recall for years. It is mostly black with some orange and blue and has the club's logo rather than the badge. Similar to the Gotham Kit, the jersey looks superb on the pitch. Representing the city that never sleeps, NYCFC did a great job with the design of the jersey. Some might even call it perfect.
