New York City FC fans are becoming more and more impatient.  They only earned a draw last Saturday against Atlanta United FC in a game they should have won.  Unfortunately, the goal-scoring struggles continued at Citi Field, subsequently only leading to one goal.

Therefore, when the Pigeons welcome the New England Revolution this weekend, it is vital that they win.  NYCFC will face the typically Eastern Conference powerhouse side in the second fixture of their five-game homestand.  However, the Revolution is struggling this season in Major League Soccer.  They are in last place, with a 1-4-1 record.  This might be due to their participation in the CONCACAF Champions Cup, in which they were eliminated from this week.

On paper, this should be a match NYCFC can win.  But will New England start to focus more on MLS and continue the better record against the Pigeons?  The visitors lead the head-to-head with ten wins compared to the home side’s eight.  Then, they drew seven times, with two of the draws occurring last season.  It is not entirely one-sided, but The Bronx side needs to earn a few wins to even the record up.

On the other hand, NYCFC needs to win for Nick Cushing’s sake.  The head coach has many fans up in arms, demanding his dismissal.  His poor record since he took over and the way the team has fallen since Ronny Deila left gives plenty of room for evidence on why he should not remain the coach.  That is not to say it would not be welcomed if Cushing completely turned things around.  Starting a winning streak would be extremely helpful for his relationship with the fans.
