NYCFC vs Austin: How to watch, time, and more of game against Los Verdes
- NYCFC will play Austin FC for the first time in MLS
- The Pigeons are starting their four-match road stretch
- Here is how to watch, the time, and more
New York City FC fans know that July is going to be a tough month. Yes, they won the CF Montréal game 2-0 thanks to a brace from Alonso Martínez. However, the team will embark on a four-match road trip, starting with a trip to Texas. They will take on Austin FC for the first time in Major League Soccer play. With no history, it is difficult to estimate what the match will be like.
Los Verdes currently sit in tenth place in the Western Conference. Their season has been an interesting one, for they are playing better than they were expected to. Yet, they still have some talented players on the team, including some old friends. Alex Ring and Brad Stuver both play for Austin. The former NYCFC players have made the city their home and are everyday starters. The reunion will be nice, but the Pigeons have a job to do.
Meanwhile, there are questions about whether Maxi Moralez and Birk Risa will be available. The two players suffered injuries in the midweek game. Moralez has a leg injury and Risa rolled his ankle. At first glance, they do not appear to be severe, but supporters will have to wait and see whether either player will be short or long term injuries. In all honesty, it would be surprising if either was available for the Austin fixture.
Ideally, NYCFC will start the road game stretch with a win. Whether that will happen depends on which team shows up. No matter what, Nick Cushing should start Martínez after his brace. Perhaps he is the number nine that the club has been looking for.

Final Notes
Cushing should give Jovan Mijatović some game time on Saturday. The Serbian has barely played, which might lead to an early departure. His talent is too good to waste on the bench. How else will he score without minutes?
