June was not the greatest month for New York City FC. The team went 1-3-0, earning their only three points from the win over Orlando City SC. Their loss to the Columbus Crew was controversial while their defeat to Nashville SC likely would not have occurred if the Boys in Blue had a shot on target.

Nevertheless, fans hope July will be a better month. However, that will be a difficult task, for NYCFC will play four games in a row away from home. They have three road wins this season, so it is hopeful they can bring back some points. Will that happen though? It all depends on which team shows up. If it is the team that beat Toronto FC, then it is possible.

Six games will be played in July. Here is a look at NYCFC's schedule which includes Major League Soccer matches and the first game of the Leagues Cup.

NYCFC's July 2024 schedule

Wednesday, July 3: NYCFC vs CF Montréal

NYCFC will begin July with a home match against CF Montréal. The Canadian team sits in tenth place with 22 points, which is ten behind the Pigeons. In fact, the home team has not lost to the visitors since 2021. This is expected to be a fixture where they should come away with all three points. If they play similarly to the first half against Orlando City SC, then it is extremely likely that will be the case.

Saturday, July 6: NYCFC vs Austin FC

The Pigeons will begin their four-game road trip when they visit Austin FC. They will see some old friends Alex Ring and Brad Stuver. Stuver is one of the better goalkeepers in MLS, so it will be difficult to put the ball past him. Austin also sits in tenth place in the Western Conference table, but NYCFC cannot take it easy on the team. The green side has beaten the LA Galaxy and tied with LAFC this year, so they can compete with stronger teams. Their main issue is that they lack consistency, so anything can happen during the 90 minutes of play.

Saturday, July 13: NYCFC vs Chicago Fire FC

If there is one game NYCFC should win on the road, then it is against Chicago Fire FC. They sit in last place in the Eastern Conference with a 4-10-6 record. The Bronx team has also won four of their last five games against the Fire, with the other one ending in a draw. Moreover, they have the historical edge, for they are 11-3-6 against the fire in MLS. This must end in a win.

Wednesday, July 17: NYCFC vs Atlanta United FC

The match against Atlanta United FC will be the most difficult one on the road. Atlanta's supporters are some of the best in the league, and they always make it difficult for opposing teams. Hence, NYCFC will have to be at their very best to even take a point home with them. The earlier fixture saw the sides end in a draw, so the Pigeons know how difficult the game will be. At the same time, they will be slightly different with the expected departure of Thiago Almada. This will definitely be one to watch.

Saturday, July 20: NYCFC vs Orlando City SC

NYCFC will finish the four-game road trip with a match against Orlando City SC. This will be less than a month from the home win, so it will not be shocking if Orlando wants revenge after losing 4-2 to the Pigeons. However, the team from Queens knows how they can beat the Florida side, so this is another fixture where it is possible to leave with a point or three. At the same time, some of the players away on international duty, like Pedro Gallese, should be back. This can make the fixture more difficult, for the goalkeeper has caused a lot of pain to NYCFC.

Sunday, July 28: NYCFC vs Querétaro F.C.

The Pigeons will end the month with their first game of the Leagues Cup against Querétaro F.C., which will be at home at Yankee Stadium. It will be nice to be back in front of supporters, but NYCFC knows they will have to get a win with an away match right after against FC Cincinnati. This will be a must-win against a team that finished 14th place in the Apertura and 10th in the Clausura of Liga MX.
