After drawing in the match against Seattle Reign FC, NJ/NY Gotham FC will want to win the last game before the NWSL pauses play until the end of August.  The NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup will begin in a few weeks, but the group round will be without seven players due to the Olympics.  Hence, the team will want to finish with a win rather than a three-game winless streak.

To do that, they must beat Angel City FC on the road.  While Gotham has beaten them already, playing in Los Angeles is a different story.  Still, with the home side’s struggles, the Bats should beat them.  They have to score goals though; that is a must.

At the very least, Lynn Williams is back after missing time due to injury.  She adds to the strong attack, who should be scoring more.  Yazmeen Ryan should also be available again after serving her red card suspension.  With the likes of Crystal Dunn, Ella Stevens, and Rose Lavelle, the NJ/NY side should score a few goals.  That does not mean that they will though.

This will be a game that Gotham FC must win.  Here is a preview of their upcoming fixture against Angel City.

Gotham FC and Angel City will play one another on Saturday, July 6.

The game is at 10:00 PM ET.

The fixture will occur at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, CA.

How to watch

Fans can watch the game on Ion.

This will be a beautiful day in LA.  The game-time temperature is expected to be around 77 degrees and sunny.  There will be a slight breeze with the humidity a little over 60%.

Injury Report

Midge Purce (knee) is out for the year while Abby Smith remains on the season-ending injury list (lower leg).

Esther González (foot), Svava Guðmundsdóttir (excused absence), Kelley O'Hara (knee), and Taryn Torres (thigh) are out for Saturday.

Players to watch

Gotham FC fans should pay attention to Tierna Davidson and Emily Sonnett.  Unless they are added to the injury list, the two are expected to start the fixture.  They have been an excellent center-back pairing, so they need to help protect Ann-Katrin Berger.  No mistakes can be made, so fans should see whether they are at the top of their game in LA.

Supporters should also pay attention to Angel City’s Sydney Leroux.  The forward appears to be back to 100% and will be a threat up front and center.  She has four goals in 2024, so she will be a threat to Gotham.

While anything can happen on the road, Angel City is not having a great season.  Therefore, it is believed the threat of a winless streak will cause Gotham FC to play well.  The prediction is that they will win 2-0, and no careless mistakes in the back will lead to a goal.
