Keaton Parks has been a mainstay starter for New York City FC for quite a few years. When he first came here via a loan deal, it took some time for him to get minutes on the pitch. But once he showed what he was capable of, there was no going back.

Unfortunately, the midfielder's playing time over the years has been slightly impacted by injuries. In fact, he missed the MLS Cup Championship run in 2021 because of a blood clot in his leg. This reoccurred in 2022, which forced him to miss the entire summer of that season. Parks was better in 2023 and 2024, but in 2025, things took a turn for the worse.

Questions surround NYCFC's Keaton Parks

At first, the NYCFC player missed a few games due to a foot injury. Nothing was concerning about it at the time, and he missed just three games. However, his return was short-lived, for after three matches, he was initially declared out due to the same foot injury. It was also revealed that this injury had been affecting him since the preseason.

Yet, that was not the end of the injury story. Rather, in July, NYCFC revealed that Parks would be out for a longer period due to a blood clot in his leg. In other words, this was the third time he required surgery due to a blood clot. And then, the club finally admitted in September that he would be out for the rest of the year. As a result, he only played in 14 games in 2025.

Thankfully, the addition of Aiden O'Neill and Andrés Perea's fantastic 2025 helped the Pigeons immensely in Park's absence. That does not mean he was not missed, though. NYCFC would be better off having Parks available. But will he return and be the player that he was before?

Meanwhile, the Bronx team has not updated anyone regarding his status for 2026. As is known, the midfielder is signed through the end of the upcoming season and has options through 2028. With the upcoming change to the Major League Soccer calendar, there is the question of whether contracts will change to match when the season ends in the late spring. Still, Parks could be in the Big Apple for a few more years.

At the same time, will NYCFC be extra careful? After all, this was the third blood clot in his leg. Should the Boys in Blue limit his playing time? Should he play? If it is okay for him to play, then when should fans expect him back? Will he be ready for the preseason?

It would be nice for NYCFC to reveal that information. Or, maybe Parks can update everyone on his status.
