NJ/NY Gotham FC has already played two competitive matches in 2026 after competing in the FIFA Women's Champions Cup. The Bats struggled and ended the tournament in third place, but it was reasonable after only a few weeks of preseason. Now, at this time, there is about a month remaining in the preseason.
With that in mind, fans are likely figuring out which games on the schedule they would like to attend. This might include some road matches. In fact, they could create a vacation around a fixture or two. That would make the reason to travel more enticing, for at least there are things to look forward to, even if the Bats were to lose. Of course, it would be ideal to head out on the road and win.
So, here are destinations that Gotham FC fans could travel to for a vacation during the 2026 season.
Vacations for Gotham FC fans in 2026
Summer in California
When the kids are out of school, in which most schools in the tri-state area are out in July and August, there are two opportunities to head to California. Gotham FC fans could head to the San Diego area during Independence Day weekend, for the Bats will play San Diego Wave FC on the 4th of July. They could have a long holiday weekend or spend a longer period in California, making their way to San Diego for the holiday and the game.
Another opportunity to visit California will be when Gotham plays against Bay FC on Wednesday, July 29. Fans could explore the Bay Area, and they could take a road trip up or down the bay. They could spend some time in San Jose and watch the match. San Francisco is then about an hour away by car, give or take, depending on the traffic. Supporters could see iconic spots like the Golden Gate Bridge, or even look for the house from Full House. Notably, with that, it is important to be mindful that is a neighborhood area.
Finally, Gotham fans could travel to California when the NJ/NY side visits Angel City FC on Sunday, August 23. This could be a Los Angeles-focused trip, and supporters could visit the beaches there. They could head into Hollywood and do all the tourist things, like walking the Hollywood Walk of Fame. And for theme park lovers, there are multiple theme parks in the area as well.
As such, Gotham FC fans have multiple opportunities to head to California during the summer. Where they want go might depend on every person's tastes.
A long weekend in Washington, D.C.
The Bats will face the Washington Spirit on Saturday, October 17. It is common for some fans to make the trip down for the day, but this could be a long weekend trip. Supporters could explore Washington, D.C. and visit all the museums and different parts of the city. The National Mall is also a great place to walk around and see the monuments and memorials.
Plus, the city has some great food. Chinatown has some great hidden spots, and Georgetown is known for food and shopping.
With different areas of the city and so much to do and see, supporters could easily create an itinerary that works for them and includes Gotham.
Spooky Season in Orlando
Orlando is known for its theme parks, but the area is also known for the events around Halloween. The location is a perfect place to go during Spooky Season, especially to the theme parks. For example, Disney World has a family-friendly Halloween event that people can go to, while Universal Orlando Resort has intense haunted houses.
Therefore, for those who do not have kids in school, heading to Orlando would be perfect for Gotham fans when the Bats take on the Orlando Pride on Sunday, October 25. They could go to theme parks, participate in Halloween events, and take a break from the hustle and bustle of rides and more by heading to the match.
Oh, and for Gotham FC fans that are also New York City FC fans, they could watch the Pigeons take on Orlando City SC on Saturday, October 24. This could be a fun vacation filled with soccer.
