New York City FC has won five games in a row while they have won eight of their last nine.  The lone loss was a home match against the Colorado Rapids.  However, the Boys in Blue have shown their abilities by beating teams like the New York Red Bulls, Toronto FC, and the Philadelphia Union.

The Pigeons will have another test when the Columbus Crew comes into town.  NYCFC has an 8-9-6 record against the Crew in all competitive competitions. They last beat the Ohio side in May of 2022.  Hence, it would be a nice feeling to get all three points by the time the final whistle blows.  Even better, it would be fantastic for the team to earn their sixth win in a row.  This would break the club record, for they have never won six straight fixtures.

It will be interesting to see what Nick Cushing does with his Starting XI for the Crew game.  Despite the lower goal numbers at this time, they are extremely threatening in the attack.  So, will the NYCFC head coach go with an offensive lineup to try and outscore the visitors?  Fans would love to see Alonso Martínez get the start after his hat trick during the San Jose outing.  Also, will Maxi Moralez play more minutes?

This should be an exciting and fun game.  Here is a preview of NYCFC’s battle against the Columbus Crew.

Date

NYCFC and the Columbus Crew will face off on Friday, June 14.

Time

The game is at 7:30 PM ET.

Location

The match will take place in the Bronx, NY at Yankee Stadium.

How to watch

Fans can watch the match on Apple TV via the MLS Season Pass.  This match will be available for free.

Weather

The weather keeps changing where the rain starts later and later.  As of now, there is unfortunately a chance of thunderstorms at game time.  There is a 70% chance, so ideally that will push off even more.  While the Pigeons can play in the rain, lightning in the area will cause delays.  It will also be about 75 degrees.

Injury report

NYCFC is without two players for Friday's game. Rio Hope-Gund (right leg) continues to be out. Thiago Martins (right leg) is out and will not be available.

Players to watch

On NYCFC, supporters should watch Martínez.  Will he get the start, or will he be on the bench?  Regardless, it is expected he will play.  Everyone should pay attention and watch what he does up front and center and whether he can score a goal.  It also matters how he plays.  If the Costa Rican can contribute in any form, then it might become difficult for Cushing to keep him out of the Starting XI.

Supporters should also pay attention to Diego Rossi on the Crew.  He has four goals and five assists, making him a danger in every way.  Half of his shots are on target, so it would not be surprising if he makes Matt Freese work.

Prediction

Since NYCFC has won five in a row, it would make sense to be positive.  Their confidence level is very high, and they know they can compete with talented sides.  Hence, the prediction is that the Bronx team will win 2-0.  Freese, with how good he is this season, is due for another clean sheet.
