New York City FC is still in the Leagues Cup and made it one round further this year. They will face Tigres UANL in the Round of 16 after beating the New England Revolution in the penalty kick shootout. It was not a pretty game, but the Pigeons got the job done.

Of course, there are some brief news topics that can be covered, from Talles Magno to the next game in the summer tournament. Here is the next NYCFC news roundup.

NYCFC news roundup: Talles Magno scores, the Leagues Cup, and Sands

Talles Magno's first match with Corinthians

As NYCFC fans know, Talles Magno was loaned out to the Brazilian club Sport Club Corinthians Paulista. It is sad his time with the Pigeons did not work out as expected. Of course, the club is partially to blame, but the talent is there.

Therefore, it was not shocking that Magno, who had great performances in his last couple of games with NYCFC, started his time with Corinthians in style.

Magno scored in his first game with his new team in stoppage time to secure a point. He had come on at the start of the second half, so to end the match the way he did is promising.

Hopefully, Magno will find success and rebuild himself as a player. He is too talented to not do so.

The next Leagues Cup game is at Red Bull Arena

As mentioned, NYCFC will play Tigres in the next game of the Leagues Cup. Sadly, the Pigeons will have to play at their least favorite stadium, Red Bull Arena. This is not ideal, but fans always knew this was a possibility in the knockout rounds.

At the same time, NYCFC is not considered the home team. During the tournament, some Liga MX sides are considered the hosts due to seeding. Since there are no games in Mexico, they played at other stadiums in the United States.

Regardless, there was a high chance not many NYCFC fans would go to Red Bull Arena anyway. It is likely the stadium will feel like a Tigres home game.

The photo of the Sands

James Sands and Will Sands were finally both on the pitch at the same time during the New England Revolution match. The other Sands was just traded from the Columbus Crew, and it never worked out that they were playing at the same time until the recent Leagues Cup game. Of course, NYCFC had to post about it.

Both of the Sands brothers were in the NYCFC academy. Hence, the club made a big deal about it, and rightfully so. It is always cool to see brothers play in the same league. Who knows? Maybe the Revolution Sands will be a Pigeon one day.
