The last few weeks have been pretty good for New York City FC. It started with James Sands' late goal to tie the game against Inter Miami CF. Since then, the Pigeons have won three straight, including the wonderful win against the New York Red Bulls in the Hudson River Derby.

There has also been a lot going on off the pitch as well. With all the great news over the last few weeks, here is the next NYCFC news roundup.

NYCFC news roundup: The stadium and more

NYCFC makes the next three Team of the Matchdays

The Pigeons have won three games in a row and have played mostly well. They struggled in the Nashville SC match, but they still scored three times. That is why it is not shocking that NYCFC made the next three Team of the Matchdays.

Tayvon Gray, Alonso Martínez, and Maxi Moralez made the Starting XI after the derby win while Nick Cushing was the coach. Mitja Ilenič was in the Starting XI and Santiago Rodríguez was on the bench after the FC Cincinnati match. Then, Rodríguez was in the Starting XI after the Nashville win.

This was impressive after the strong run as of late. NYCFC has not made the Team of the Matchday often in 2024, so hopefully at least one more player can do so on Decision Day.

NYCFC and City Square

On October 1, NYCFC introduced City Square to the world. According to the club, the space "will be a multi-functional space for both our fans and the local community to enjoy on matchdays and non-matchdays alike." The Five Boroughs Food Hall will be in this section of the stadium as well.

Based on the photos, plenty of food options will be available, representing all different cultures and nationalities. There will be a good amount of seating and table space inside and outside.

The pictures also revealed a stage, highlighting the idea that small concerts can take place in City Hall. The space could become a popular spot in Willets Point and might become a popular meeting spot for fans before games.

NYCFC II will be in the MLS Next Pro playoffs

NYCFC II might have lost to Huntsville City FC on the final day of the regular season, but that does not matter. The MLS Next Pro side is going to the playoffs. The team finished in sixth place in the East, securing the spot. This is also the first time they made the playoffs, resulting in their best season yet.

They have lost three of the last four games, so they do not have the best form right now. However, they are still one of the stronger teams in the league. Hopefully, NYCFC II will go far in the playoffs.
