New York City FC will resume Major League Soccer play this Saturday after their elimination from the Leagues Cup against the Columbus Crew in the quarterfinals. The Bronx side lost via a penalty kick shootout.

Before the next match, there is some news to talk about. Here is the latest NYCFC news roundup that includes the debated timing of the fastest goal in club history.

NYCFC news roundup: Alonso Martínez and Valentín Castellanos

The fastest goal in NYCFC history brings confusion

As everyone knows, Alonso Martínez scored the fastest goal in NYCFC history and Leagues Cup history. The night of the match, the Leagues Cup X account, and the Pigeons' match report confirmed what could be seen by watching the clock: the ball went into the goal 12 seconds in.

However, on the Apple TV broadcast, the commentators kept on saying 14 seconds. It was interesting they continued to state that throughout the match despite the tournament itself stating 12 seconds. At the same time, Apple tends to be off with their stats, so it would not be shocking if they were wrong.

Now, NYCFC is putting it out there that Martínez scored within 14 seconds. Is it because of the fact Apple is saying 14 seconds? Or is everyone who states 12 seconds wrong? It is possible the clock on Apple TV was wrong. Then, when using a stopwatch to time the goal from the first kick, the goal comes in at 13 seconds.

So what is it? 12, 13, or 14? At this rate, if NYCFC is going with 14 seconds now, fans might have to just use that. Alas, the timing of the goal should not be as questionable as it is.

NYCFC had fans at training on Tuesday

On Tuesday, some NYCFC fans were able to watch the team train at their practice facility. The club posted an adorable video of some young fans seeking signatures from some of the players.

It is unknown how many fans were there, but it is always a good thing when teams have an open practice. It highlights the appreciation of supporters and allows them to make some cool memories with family and friends.

Valentín Castellanos and Argentina

After years of waiting, Valentín Castellanos has finally been called up to represent Argentina. The former NYCFC player appears to have established himself as a starter for S.S. Lazio and has been doing well in Europe. He recently scored in the first league game of the season.

This is a great accomplishment for Castellanos. Moreover, he has been called up for the World Cup qualifiers against Chile and Colombia. These matches will give the forward a chance to show Argentina who he is and what he can do. NYCFC fans clearly know all about his talent.
