New York City FC continues to have plenty of newsworthy stories. Here is the latest news roundup for the Bronx team.
The NYCFC news roundup: National team call-ups, giving back, and more
NYCFC National team call-ups
The NYCFC right-backs, Tayvon Gray and Mitja Ilenič, were called up to represent their national teams in the November window.
Gray was called up to represent Jamaica in the CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinals. They will play Canada home and away, with the matches taking place on November 17 and 21, respectively.
Meanwhile, Ilenič will represent the U21 Slovenia team. They will play a friendly against Turkey on November 17.
While Gray is the chosen starter for NYCFC, Ilenič's potential is why he continues to earn call-ups at the U21 level.
Tayvon Gray offered his experience
Before heading to Jamaica, Gray hung out with some young soccer players at Crotona Park. He offered his guidance and experience while watching them practice and play.
The Bronx native is always willing to give back to the local community. NYCFC might be heading to Queens in a few years, but for now, they are still the Bronx team. It would not be surprising to see Gray out there more often. Who knows? Maybe other players will volunteer their time with the youth.
NYCFC will play in the 2024 Coachella Valley Invitational
NYCFC announced the club will play in the 2024 Coachella Valley Invitational during the 2024 preseason. The Pigeons will play exhibition matches in February against fellow MLS sides as they prepare for the new year.
Other teams that will partake in the CVI include Austin FC, LAFC, and the San Jose Earthquakes. At least ten teams will attend. Moreover, supporters will be able to watch the friendly fixtures in person. Will New York City FC fans make the trek out to watch their team?
