New York City FC has the international break off, but that does not mean the news has stopped. There have been international call-ups, former players scoring in Europe, and so much more.

Here is a brief look at some of the recent NYCFC news stories.

The NYCFC news update as of 10/10/23

Valentín Castellanos finally scored his first goal for Lazio

Over the weekend, Valentín Castellanos scored his first goal for S.S. Lazio. The former NYCFC striker had one of his best performances in Serie A. His goal in the first half helped put his team up 2-0. But then, he assisted on the team's third goal to help Lazio to a 3-2 win.

Tayvon Gray was called up to the Jamaican National Team

NYCFC right-back Tayvon Gray received his second call-up to the Jamaican National Team. The defender was first called up back in September. He made his debut against Honduras when he came on as a substitute.

This time around, Gray will have an opportunity to play in the games against Haiti and Grenada. Clearly, he made an impression during his first time with Jamaica. In addition, his solid performances with NYCFC have helped him receive the second call-up.

Mitja Ilenič will represent the U21 side for Slovenia

Gray was not the only right-back called up for international duty. Mitja Ilenič was called up to the U21 side for Slovenia. The youth international has received less playing time as Nick Cushing has chosen Gray to start the majority of games. Nonetheless, he continues to earn call-ups, which illuminates his talent regardless of whether he plays.

Jack Harrison scored his first goal for Everton

After an injury delay, former NYCFC player Jack Harrison is finally beginning his new adventure with Everton F.C. This past weekend, the former Leeds man scored his first goal for his new club. His goal was a golazo from outside of the box. He sent the ball over everyone, watched it hit the top crossbar, and fall into the goal. He helped lead Everton to a 3-0 win.

So far, it appears Harrison will be in another relegation fight. The New York City FC boy wonder will try to keep his new team from being relegated. There is still plenty of season left to play, but it is not looking great for Everton.
