NJ/NY Gotham FC has had an incredible week. They first booked their place in the NWSL playoffs after beating Utah Royals FC 1-0 on Sunday. Then, they were finally invited to the White House to celebrate the 2023 NWSL Championship on Monday. The Bats were the first NWSL team to receive the honor under any White House administration since the league was formed.
As such, Gotham FC would like to continue their celebrations by winning on the road. The ladies will face the Kansas City Current for the second time this season in a top-four clash. They shared the points at Red Bull Arena, but this match holds even more importance. The Bats are in third place with 43 points while the Current sits in fourth with 42. The NJ/NY side would like to increase that gap by earning three points away from home.
After the Bats’ superb away performance against Seattle Reign FC, a win in Kansas City might be possible. The home team is also 2-2-1 in their last five NSWL games and Gotham is 4-1-0. In other words, the visitors have been more successful since the NWSL season resumed. Additionally, the ladies have done this with more games under their belt, for they have been playing in the CONCACAF W Champions Cup as well.
