After a brief pause in the season due to the international break, NJ/NY Gotham FC will resume NWSL play as they welcome Angel City FC for an afternoon matchup. This weekend will be their Pride celebration. Gotham fans can head to Red Bull Arena and participate in the festivities. They could do a meet-and-greet with basketball legend Sue Bird, one of the team's owners. There will also be giveaways before the fixture.
While the Pride game will focus on Pride off the pitch, it will be a different story on the pitch. Gotham FC will seek to continue their unbeaten streak of six games. Their last win at Bay FC was the perfect way to go on the break. Now, the team will want to win in front of their fans and start the month of June off right. Since they are playing Angel City, ending the match with three points is possible.
Despite some of the offensive talent on the California team, they are struggling this season. They sit in 11th place with 11 points. They have also lost three of their last five matches, going 1-3-1. Plus, Gotham has one of the best defenses in the league. Will they manage to put the ball past the backline? Claire Emslie might be able to since she has five goals this year.
However, it will be a difficult challenge for the visitors, which is how the home team would prefer their visit to be. Gotham FC still needs to climb up the table, and Angel City is a team they can and should beat at home.

Final Notes
It was a little shocking when Lynn Williams was left off the USWNT squad after her recent performances with the Bats. This includes her NWSL goal-scoring record that was broken during the match against the Chicago Red Stars. Understandably, the USWNT has so much attacking talent, but her snub was still questionable. Will she start on Saturday and make a statement with Gotham FC? It would be great to see her and Ella Stevens up top since they have been scoring most of the goals recently.
