Gotham FC: 3 predictions for the 2024 NWSL season

1. Esther González and Lynn Williams will compete for the top scorer

Lynn Williams struggled to grab goals when she returned from the World Cup after starting the year on fire.  For the longest time, she was in the Golden Boot race, but her drought during the final matches led to her falling behind.  She is one of the best in the NWSL.  Subsequently, she should bounce back in 2024.

Esther González was signed after the World Cup, leaving her with limited opportunities to score goals based on when she joined the team.  The Spaniard did score three goals.  As such, the prolific goal-scorer is expected to score more goals in her first season with the club.

That is why it is predicted the two players should compete for the top goal-scorer on Gotham FC.  In addition, it is believed they will compete for the Golden Boot.

Williams and González might even create a competition with one another.  This could lead to the players working harder to beat one another with goals scored.  In this case, fans could expect the two to add more goals to the team total this season.

At the same time, the signings of Lavelle and Crystal Dunn increase the service opportunities for other players.  That means Williams and González should receive more opportunities to put the ball into the back of the net.  Williams can even aid the Spaniard, for she does well with getting the ball into the box.
