New York City FC has the week off due to the international break. The team will be starting their summer schedule soon, which will include matches in Major League Soccer and the Leagues Cup. There will be plenty of games regardless of how far the team progresses in the summer tournament.

There is no question though that NYCFC fans would love to have a perfect summer. Summer is a time for fun and joy. It is a time for vacations and breaks from reality. It is the season of sunshine and happiness. It could be a spectacular time for the Bronx side as well.

For this piece, the summer for the club will utilize the meteorological summer, which is from June 1 to August 31. In the past, there have been some summers or summer months that have not been fun. Supporters would appreciate and love for the Pigeons to make the summer great.

How can NYCFC have the perfect summer? Here are three ways to make the next few months a period to remember.

3 ways NYCFC can have the perfect summer

1. The wins keep coming for NYCFC

This is an easy way to make the summer perfect, but NYCFC needs to keep the wins coming. They are currently on a five-game winning streak after their recent win against the San Jose Earthquakes. They would like to make it six once play resumes on June 14. While eventually, they will suffer a loss again, it would be incredible for the Pigeons to win most of their MLS matches. Moreover, when the Leagues Cup begins, it would be ideal for the team to move further than they did last season.

2. James Sands scoring his first MLS goal

While NYCFC will have part of the summer dedicated to the Leagues Cup, there will still be plenty of MLS games. Most of June and July will be dedicated to the regular season. Hence, one way this can be a great summer is for James Sands to score his first goal in MLS.

He has been around for a long time but has never found the back of the net. Sure, he has scored a penalty kick goal in the past, specifically for the old Leagues Cup in 2021. However, that does not count. It would be nice to see Sands finally get the ball into the back of the net.

3. No injuries for NYCFC

NYCFC is still waiting to hear about the status of Kevin O'Toole, who left the San Jose game with a possible hamstring injury. Then, Thiago Martins was pulled before the fixture started due to a knock he suffered in training. The Brazilian should be okay, but fans do not know whether O'Toole will be out.

Regardless of his status, it would be a fantastic summer if nobody else is injured. It is better for Nick Cushing to have a whole squad to choose from rather than an injury-plagued squad that reduces the ability to rotate players. Injuries can also reduce the morale of a team. Therefore, let NYCFC make it through the summer without losing anyone.
