New York City FC will play their second and final game of June when they travel north of the border to take on CF Montréal.  Similar to the Atlanta United FC match, which the team won, the Pigeons will once again seek revenge.  The last time the two met, the Bronx side lost to the Canadian team at home.  The result was a shocking one since that was Montréal’s first win of the season.

Hence, NYCFC will try to return the favor and win on the road.  In the past, they have been successful in Montréal.  On paper, they should go to Stade Saputo and secure all three points.  However, fans will recall how they lost at the stadium last season on Decision Day.

That is why the Boys in Blue must capture their performance from the Atlanta win and bring it to Canada.  Hannes Wolf must continue to be consistent, and it would be great for Mounsef Bakrar to score again.  Alonso Martínez is still out since he is with Costa Rica in the CONCACAF Gold Cup, so it is vital that the attacking players step up in his absence.

Meanwhile, Matt Freese, who is with the USMNT, will also be out, so Tomás Romero should get another start between the sticks.  The second-choice goalkeeper had a decent performance in his first NYCFC Major League Soccer start.  Can he do it again on the road?  Can the backline help protect Romero and not make any mistakes?  If everyone plays how they should, then the Boys in Blue should walk away with a win.

Final Notes

NYCFC should have never lost at home to CF Montréal.  That is why they must beat them on the road.  The Canadian team has won just two games so far this season, and the Pigeons do not want to make it where they have lost twice to them.  Anything less than three points would be a failure.
