May is finally over, and New York City FC survived the eight games they had to play. It was not an easy month, though, for the Pigeons went 3-2-2 in Major League Soccer and 3-3-2 overall. There were some great wins, like the Hudson River Derby. At the same time, some of the losses stung, including the home loss to Houston Dynamo FC. Similar to the rest of the season, it was surely a roller coaster month.

Some might call NYCFC's May as being an okay or acceptable record. However, the Pigeons sit in ninth place in the Eastern Conference, which is the last playoff spot. Therefore, it is vital that they are successful in June. The pressure will be on the team since they are only playing two games throughout the entire month. They currently have off for the international break, and then most teams will have some time off while the Club World Cup and the CONCACAF Gold Cup take place.

Hopefully, the time between the two games will help NYCFC while they are without some of their players for international duty, the Gold Cup, and youth international teams. Plus, players should have a drive to win, for they lost to both opponents. Here is a look at the not-so-busy June schedule.

NYCFC's June 2025 schedule

Thursday, June 12: NYCFC vs Atlanta United FC

The last time NYCFC faced Atlanta United FC, they were on the road and appeared to be on their way to earning a win away from home. The Five Stripes had other ideas and beat the Pigeons 4-3. It was a terrible loss, so the Bronx side will seek revenge when they face Atlanta during the lone home fixture of June.

Notably, the visitors won two of their last three matches, including a huge win over FC Cincinnati. It appears they are starting to come together, making this a dangerous game. NYCFC cannot lose out on three points at Yankee Stadium again, so the team must figure out a way to win. Revenge is also best served on a cold platter, so what better way for the Boys in Blue to redeem themselves by serving Atlanta a platter of goals.

Saturday, June 28: NYCFC at CF Montréal

Then, the lone road game of June will be at CF Montréal. On paper, NYCFC should beat the 15th-place team. However, the Canadian side shocked everyone at Yankee Stadium in the last matchup. They won, winning their first game of the season. Oh, and guess what? CF Montréal has not won since. It would be embarrassing for NYCFC to lose both fixtures against them. That is why this is a must-win game.
