On Wednesday, the day finally arrived for NJ/NY Gotham FC and the rest of the NWSL: the 2025 schedule was released! Supporters have been waiting to know when their teams will face the others around the league. The release enables fans to plan for home matches and possible trips to other stadiums. Plus, for those who watch on TV, they can put the schedule in their calendars.

After a superb 2024 regular season, Gotham FC will seek to improve on the previous campaign. The team might have broken records but failed to win a trophy. They ended the season in an awful manner, losing to the Washington Spirit via a penalty kick shootout. Knowing the schedule gives the club an idea of their toughest stretches and when they should maximize their points.

Moreover, the release means Gotham knows when they will play their 26 games. Notably, with a new team entering the league in 2026, this might be the last year the teams play 26 matches.

Things to know about Gotham FC's schedule

Focusing on the schedule, Gotham FC will start the season on the road like they did in 2024. The Bats will begin the 2025 campaign against Seattle Reign FC, subsequently facing former players Lynn Williams and Cassie Miller. This match will be a late one on Saturday, March 15. Supporters will have to start the season with a 10 PM fixture.

The first home game will occur the following week when the NJ/NY side welcomes the Orlando Pride on Sunday, March 23. It will be a difficult game since Orlando won the Shield and NWSL Playoffs last year. Of course, the Pride is beatable, for the Bats beat them at home toward the end of the 2024 season.

On the opposite end of the season, Gotham FC will play their final home fixture on Sunday, October 19. The ladies will face Racing Louisville FC to cap off the regular season at Sports Illustrated Stadium. They will then finish the campaign on the road, battling the North Carolina Courage on Decision Day, which takes place on Sunday, November 2. North Carolina is tough to play on the road, so the team will have a difficult match to look forward to.

The busiest month for NWSL matches will take place in August when Gotham FC and the rest of the NWSL return from the NWSL pause in July. The Bats will at least have their longest home stretch of three games during that time, so they will have to travel less. At home, they will face the Washington Spirit, Houston Dash, and Utah Royals FC. The away games will bookend the month of August. The Bats will travel to Chicago Stars FC, formerly the Chicago Red Stars, and the Orlando Pride.

Then, the longest time away from home is three games, which will take place in April. Gotham will head on the road to play against Angel City FC, Portland Thorns FC, and Washington.

As of now, the Bats will also play five games in May. However, two of them will be for the CONCACAF W Champions Cup. Moreover, it is unknown whether any other tournament games will be added or whether the Champions Cup will begin play again in the fall. As of now, friendlies during the pause are the likeliest outcome of matches being added.

Notably, Gotham already announced that 16 games will be nationally televised. Fans should expect the remaining ten to be available on NWSL+ and possibly on the MSG Networks again for those who will watch locally. However, if no deal is reached with MSG, then supporters can watch those other matches on the NWSL streaming service.

There are less than two months to go before the NWSL season begins. The schedule release means that fans can get excited for Gotham FC's 2025 campaign.
