NJ/NY Gotham FC is building for the 2025 season via departures and new signings. Some, like fan-favorite Delanie Sheehan and NWSL veteran McCall Zerboni, left in free agency. Shocking trades, like Lynn Williams' move to Seattle Reign FC, rocked the fanbase. In addition, fantastic new players were brought in, including Gabi Portilho.

As always, the news continues to break for the Bats, and it feels like there is a race to catch up with all of the stories. Here is the next Gotham FC news roundup.

Gotham FC news roundup: The NWSL and USWNT

The NWSL calendar for 2025

Gotham FC might have to wait for their schedule, but the NWSL released the overall calendar for 2025. The season will begin on March 7 with the NWSL Challenge Cup and end with the NWSL Championship on November 2022. The regular season will take place from March 14 through November 2.

Once again, there will be no games during the FIFA international windows. The 26 games will be played over 25 weeks, and there will be a pause from June 23 through June 29. Plus, due to international competitions, the season will pause during the month of July. Currently, no tournament is scheduled, so teams will likely play friendlies. Gotham FC's July schedule will be determined later on.

Of course, the Bats also have the CONCACAF W Champions Cup in May. It is unknown at this time whether there will be any other tournaments in 2025 that Gotham will participate in.

Gotham FC at the USWNT January Camp

On Tuesday, USWNT coach Emma Hayes named her 26-player roster for the national team's January Camp. Six Gotham FC players were called up for the week-long period that will see some veterans train with some new call-ups.

Tierna Davidson, Crystal Dunn, Jenna Nighswonger, and Emily Sonnett were all called up, returning to the USWNT. But then, Nealy Martin and Ella Stevens both received their first call-ups, with Martin being called up for the first time to any US National Team.

While there will not be any games during the camp, Hayes can use this time to look at new players like Martin and Stevens to see whether they should be called up in the future. It also gives her the chance to look at her options at the different positions before the SheBelieves Cup in February.

This week will give the Gotham FC players time to begin preseason training and turn the page to 2025.
