How to watch NYCFC’s critical road game with Atlanta United, time, and more

It has been over a year since New York City FC last played against Atlanta United FC. When the two teams last met, the Pigeons served revenge by winning 4-0, but that was at home. If fans have forgotten, then they must recall the disastrous loss in Atlanta last year, when they were up 3-1 but lost 4-3. Truthfully, that match would easily fit into the 2026 campaign, with the number of games that ended in a loss or draw that should have been wins.

As such, NYCFC will desperately try not to make the same mistakes as in 2025. The issue at hand, though, is that the Boys in Blue are officially below the playoff line due to their loss against their rivals, the New York Red Bulls. So once again, every remaining fixture is like a postseason match. But the likelihood of winning every single one, especially because the team has played below their expected level, is probably close to 0%.

If there is one positive, then it is that Atlanta is also struggling. The Five Stripes are in 14th place with a 7-14-5 record. Maybe the Pigeons will find a way to get another road win. Most recently, they did secure the three points against Real Salt Lake, another team that was in a similar spot to the Bronx side. And their 4-4-4 road record is decent. Plus, Atlanta has only won four home matches in 2026.

NYCFC might have a curveball as well. The club recently signed Matt Miazga through the rest of the season. The center-back has not played at his best as of late with FC Cincinnati, but maybe a change was all that he needed. It would be great if he could help reduce the Pigeons’ mistakes. At this point, they have nothing to lose.

Final notes

It is good that NYCFC will be away from home this weekend. There is a nor’easter that is about to strike the Northeast, and while the Big Apple will not get the worst of the storm, as of now, there will still be plenty of wind and rain on Saturday that would have made conditions awful. As such, the scheduling worked out.
