After some shocking moves this week with the signing of Tess Boade and the trade of Sarah Schupansky to Boston Legacy FC, NJ/NY Gotham FC must get back to the upcoming game at hand. The Bats will head to California to take on Angel City FC for the first time this season. The two last met last September, which ended in a 3-1 win for the eventual NWSL Champions.
Notably, Gotham FC is currently on an eight-game unbeaten streak and a four-game winning streak. Moreover, they last lost to Angel City FC in 2022 and would like to continue their dominance over the team. On paper, they should get the win. The LA-based team is having a slightly better season compared to 2025. In fact, the side needs two more points to equal their total from last year. But they are still in 10th place.
While it is expected that Gotham FC should earn all three points, nothing is ever set in stone. The ladies know that they still need to approach every game the same way, with possibly changing tactics based on who they are playing. What would be nice, though, is for the team to score more than two goals. It is not like they have not done so this season, since they scored three against Seattle Reign FC last month.Â
However, there is the question of how long the Bats’ defense can keep winning games. Winning by scoring once or twice might not work in the long run. Hence, Gotham FC needs more high-scoring games here and there. And if they did that against Angel City, who normally keeps teams from scoring more than one or two goals, then that would be impressive.

Gotham FC should definitely go with a more offensive-minded lineup against Angel City FC. While it is easy to complain about the need for more defenders, this would be a good match to start Guro Reiten at left-back and Midge Purce at right-back. This would also have been a good match to start Schupansky, but sadly, she is no longer with the club.
