The international break is over, and NJ/NY Gotham FC and the rest of the NWSL will play the final games of the regular season on Decision Day.  The Bats last played to a 2-2 draw at home with Racing Louisville FC, which was somewhat disappointing since the team dropped points at home again.  As such, this is putting the pressure on them when they face the North Carolina Courage on the road, for they have to win to have a chance at fourth place.

Of course, the home team has to win to have a chance of making the playoffs.  This will likely create an insane environment and match, making the fixture difficult.  But Gotham FC knows there are so many scenarios that can occur, and anything less than three points means that the NJ/NY side will head out on the road in the quarterfinals of the NWSL playoffs.

Still, even if the visitors win, then they will rely on San Diego Wave FC and Portland Thorns FC not to win their games.  Gotham cannot finish higher than fourth place since the Orlando Pride would finish in third with a win or a draw against Seattle Reign FC, and the Reign would end the year in third with a win.

Meanwhile, the biggest concern for the Bats is the injuries.  They have been without Ann-Katrin Berger and Esther González, who are critical to the squad.  Gotham FC could lose the match due to the injuries, especially as the fans wait to see if any of them will be available.

Final Notes

Rose Lavelle had a successful stint with the USWNT during the international window, scoring twice for the team.  Before, she scored the tying goal for Gotham FC in the comeback draw against Racing Louisville.  Hence, she will hopefully have a good match and find the back of the net again.
