NJ/NY Gotham FC is in the middle of their preseason since the Bats will begin earlier than other NWSL teams. They will play in the FIFA Women's Champions Cup later this month, hoping to add another trophy after securing two in the 2025 season.

As the ladies prepare for the Champions Cup, Gotham FC revealed an update to their roster. Notably, Tierna Davidson and Taryn Torres are both listed despite their injuries. Torres will probably miss a good portion of the season, but Davidson will hopefully be ready to go as soon as possible. However, there has been no clarification on where she is in her recovery. It would be shocking if she were to participate in the upcoming tournament.

Then, the club, as expected, temporarily brought back their two players who were out on loan: Princess Ademiluyi and Stella Nyamekye. Both have been with Fort Lauderdale United FC in the USL Super League. The team is in the middle of their season since they play a fall-to-spring schedule, and they are also in the middle of a midseason break. After the Champions Cup, the two will return to the Florida side for the rest of the season.

The good news is that the Gotham FC's loaned-out players have been playing for Fort Lauderdale. Ademiluyi has played in ten matches, and Nyamekye has played in 14. Whether they play any minutes in the upcoming tournament is questionable. At the very least, Juan Carlos Amorós will be able to see how they are progressing in their development.

Then, Gotham also added Kat Jordan as a non-roster invitee for the preseason. She recently finished her college eligibility at Santa Clara University, playing two years there. She also played at Columbia University. If Jordan impresses the NJ/NY side, then perhaps she can earn herself a contract for the 2026 season.

Having these players should help Gotham prepare for the Champions Cup. But when all is said and done, it is likely the starting lineups seen in the 2025 NWSL Playoffs will be the chosen starters for at least the semifinal match. The last game might depend on whether the Bats are playing in the third-place game or the finals.

One might think that it will be difficult for Gotham FC, as the team has been in the offseason. However, thanks to playing every playoff match, the offseason was shorter compared to previous years. Amorós said in his recent press conference that the short offseason has helped prepare for the preseason, for the players are not too out of shape. He also mentioned that the preseason has been going very well.

Hopefully, Gotham FC's preseason will continue to head in the right direction.
