NJ/NY Gotham FC is just at the start of their offseason after winning the NWSL Championship less than two weeks ago and celebrating with fans. While the celebrations will likely continue in 2026, the focus must now shift to the new campaign. Everyone is waiting for the roster decisions to be released, and then the big question is whether Midge Purce will re-sign or go elsewhere.

In the meantime, the Bats have still stayed busy. Some were away on international duty, and some have kept busy with appearances. By the end of the week, everyone should be starting their vacations and much-needed rest from a busy season. So, here is another Gotham FC news roundup.

Midge Purce represented Gotham FC on Monday

On Monday, Purce made an appearance on the ManningCast on Monday Night Football. The forward joined Gotham FC minority owner Eli Manning and his brother Peyton Manning to discuss the game between the Giants and Patriots, soccer, fashion, and more. She even made fun of Eli, saying that he was "a little odd".

It appeared that Purce was a little more interested in the conversation compared to the game, which makes sense since the Patriots obliterated the New York team. Nevertheless, she was able to represent Gotham on the national stage, for many watch Monday Night Football.

Esther González has another trophy

Esther González has won another trophy this year. This time, the striker won the UEFA Women’s Nations League after Spain defeated Germany 3-0. She started the match, but did not score. Still, she was a vital part of Spain's run to the trophy, scoring four times during the group round.

González has had a great year for club and country. Ending 2025 with two championships is a great way to complete a stellar year.

Gotham FC players are nominated for more awards

Two Gotham FC players were nominated for the U.S. Soccer End-of-Year Awards. Rose Lavelle was nominated for the Female Player of the Year, and Lilly Reale was nominated for the Young Female Player of the Year. These awards focus more on the performances with the national team, so both deserve to be nominated.

Although, with Lavelle out injured for part of the season, there is the question of whether she can win. Reale would have more of a chance since the Gotham rookie made the jump from the youth teams to the first team. Still, this is great for the players, and both deserve the recognition.
