New York City FC will return home to the Bronx for a midweek game. The Pigeons will seek to finally grab a win in Major League Soccer for the first time in two and a half months. This might seem like a long time, but fans should remember the season paused for the Leagues Cup. Yet, they are winless in seven MLS matches, which is not a good thing. The draw over the weekend to D.C. United did not help either.
So, NYCFC will try to earn their first win in forever when they welcome the Philadelphia Union. The last time the two teams met, the Bronx team was in the middle of their best stretch of the season. They beat the Union 2-1 to win their second road fixture of the season, with some fans wondering whether things were finally on the upside. Plus, this match made national headlines thanks to Raquinho the Raccoon.
Since this is a home match, and the Pigeons beat Philadelphia earlier this season, they have to win. With Inter Miami CF coming to the city this weekend, the Union game is a crunch-time fixture. A loss or draw would basically declare that NYCFC’s season is done. Sure, they should still make the playoffs, but the possibility of success is starting to slip.
There is some relief though with the fact Matt Freese is okay and will not be out for a long-term injury. He will continue to keep NYCFC in matches, but the Boys in Blue have to score. Everyone knows the goalkeeper is why they left D.C. with a draw after his seven saves. However, the team cannot always rely on him. Everyone must put in the work.

Final Notes
Nick Cushing is back on the hot seat. Therefore, anything less than a win would not look good. If NYCFC does not win on Wednesday, and then loses to Inter Miami on Saturday, then there is no question that the “Cushing Out” shouts and signs will be back.
