NJ/NY Gotham FC will be on the road this weekend as they look to extend their unbeaten run. The Bats will play against Racing Louisville FC for the second time this season. They will look to improve on their previous result which ended in a 1-1 draw. The goal will be to earn all three points and perhaps score a few more goals. Although, two goals have been good enough as of late.
Since the last meeting, Gotham FC sits in fifth place with 21 points, while Racing is in seventh with 15 points. The home team has won their previous two games but the visitors have won the last four of five matches. Therefore, it is easy to declare that the Bats are the better team as of late. That does not matter when all is said and done, for road fixtures, regardless of the table, can be tricky.
The Bats will need to find ways to stop the offensive threat on Racing Louisville. They almost did in the previous fixture, but as fans know, the two teams traded goals in stoppage time. One player in particular, who has been on a tear recently, is midfielder Savannah DeMelo. She has scored three goals in her last four games. Also, the 26-year-old leads Racing with five in total in just eight matches played.
Thankfully, Gotham FC has one of the best defenses in the league. They can give up a goal though, for some of the last few to go into the back of the net have been difficult for any goalkeeper to save, including Ann-Katrin Berger. Alas, it is difficult for teams to put more than one goal past the Gotham keeper, except for the Washington Spirit. The defense will help the Bats beat Racing.
