Gotham FC vs Racing Louisville FC: How to watch, time, and more of must-win game

NJ/NY Gotham FC will return to New Jersey for a much-needed home match after a rough start to the year.  The team is 1-2-1 in the regular season and has been struggling to find the back of the net.  Injuries are abundant, but the roster is still strong enough that they should be playing better.

Sunday will be the perfect day to turn their season around.  Gotham FC will welcome Racing Louisville FC to town as the two face off for the first time in the NWSL this season.  It is not the first time they will play one another in 2024, for they met in the preseason during the Women’s Cup Colombia.  The Bats, without seven players due to the W Gold Cup, beat Racing Louisville 3-1.

Therefore, the players should strive to get a similar result, for the lack of goals is the main issue for the team.  The strength of the roster is unquestionable.  With all of the attacking talent, Gotham should have more goals compared to the two from Esther González.  The Spaniard scored a brace in that Women’s Cup match, so it would not be shocking if she scores again.  Moreover, the NJ/NY side failed to beat the visitors during the 2023 regular season, going 0-1-1, so they will want to get the first win against Racing since 2022.

Meanwhile, the roster might be strong, but the injury concerns continue to pile on with Tierna Davidson coming off in the first half in the Washington Spirit loss.  As seen already, the new defender has been a vital player in the backline.  Without her, the defense becomes more vulnerable.  As such, Gotham FC must find their goal-scoring boots.
