Gotham FC vs Portland Thorns FC: How to watch, time, and more as NWSL resumes
- Gotham FC will play Portland Thorns FC as the team resumes NWSL play
- Here is how to watch the game and more information
After a long break from the NWSL, NJ/NY Gotham FC and the rest of the teams are back in league play. This comes after a fantastic month and a half for the Bats. Six of the players won the gold medal at the Summer Olympics with Ann-Katrin Berger winning the bronze. Then, the rest of the side had a surprising yet successful NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup. The ladies will play in the finals this fall.
The next goal is to continue climbing up the NWSL table. Gotham FC will resume league play this weekend against Portland Thorns FC. The teams sit in fourth and fifth place, respectively, in the table. With the way the Orlando Pride is playing, it will be difficult to catch them and take over first place. It is not impossible though. That means the Bats must win at home against Portland.
They already beat them in the first match of the season away from home, so can the NJ/NY side do it again? With their roster and the fact the ladies are at home, they truly should be able to. More importantly, some injured players have returned and are available, including Kelley O’Hara.
The one thing Gotham FC must do during the rest of the season is to score more goals. They finally scored more than two goals in the Summer Cup 3-0 win over C.D. Guadalajara Femenil, or Chivas. They have yet to score more than two in the NWSL. This must be a major focus for the Bats.

Final Notes
Since Maycee Bell was traded this week, fans will wonder whether Juan Carlos Amorós will go with Bruninha and Mandy Freeman as the right-backs. Of course, once O’Hara is 100%, she could see some starts in the final games of her career. This will be a position to watch though for Gotham FC.
