NJ/NY Gotham FC only started their season about a month ago. The ladies have had an okay start, leading to mixed game news. However, off the pitch, the news is a little more positive.

Between celebratory news and television, there is quite a bit to cover. Here is a look at the latest Gotham FC news roundup.

Gotham FC news roundup: celebrations and TV

Gotham FC celebrates the NWSL Championship

Before and after Sunday's draw with the Kansas City Current, Gotham FC celebrated their 2023 NWSL Championship. Former captain Ali Krieger made her return, taking pictures with the fans and celebrating the greatest win in club history. The banner was unveiled prior to kickoff, while the ladies received their rings afterward.

Not every player received their ring, for they are currently with new teams. They will get them at some point, for they were part of the Championship run. Nonetheless, the ladies who were there will remember the celebratory aspects of the night, especially since they were able to celebrate with the supporters.

Gotham and MSG Networks renew partnership

All NWSL fans know that all non-televised matches will be available on NWSL+ for free. This was a great move, for it increased the accessibility of the league. At the same time, the games can be shown via local TV, and that is why Gotham FC and the MSG Networks renewed their partnership to show all non-televised games for the rest of the season.

The first game on MSG was this past Sunday, and eight more fixtures will be shown on the networks and via their streaming service. In addition, friendlies and other Gotham-specific programming can be shown as the season progresses. Plus, if fans do not have the network, then they can still watch on the NWSL streaming service.

It is nice that the NWSL allows some local coverage. There is no question that local commentators have more heart and passion for the clubs they cover compared to the other networks. At the same time, people can still watch anywhere around the country via NWSL+. It is a win-win for the league and the team.

The USWNT on the Today Show features Gotham FC players

On Monday, The Today Show had some Olympic athletes and hopeful athletes on the show. This included some of the USWNT stars, which featured Gotham FC players. Crystal Dunn, Rose Lavelle, and Emily Sonnett were interviewed on the third hour of the show.

The Gotham ladies discussed how they are looking for redemption after the World Cup failures and how they have a chip on their shoulders. They are also looking forward to Emma Hayes joining the team, who will officially take charge after Chelsea F.C. Women's season concludes.

The Today Show also turned the focus on women's sports in general and the recent growth. The interview was well done and allowed some of the Gotham FC players to be in front of the camera off of the pitch, promoting both club and country.
