New York City FC has had a poor start to the 2024 season. The team from the Bronx and Queens is 1-4-1 with a mere four points. If Nick Cushing is not sacked like many wish for him to be, then he will face the highest pressure of his career in April.

This month, NYCFC will play four home games in a row as a part of a five-game homestand. Truthfully, they really need to win all of them for Cushing to receive any grace from the supporters. Maybe it will be acceptable to win three and draw one. These are all teams who are in sixth place and below, so wins are possible. Of course, the Pigeons actually have to score.

Who will NYCFC face in April? Here is a look at this month's schedule.

The NYCFC schedule for April

Saturday, April 6: NYCFC vs Atlanta United FC

NYCFC will return home to face Atlanta United FC. The Georgia team is having an okay start to the season, where they are 3-2-0. The talent on the roster will make this match a challenging one for the Pigeons. Players like Thiago Almada and Giorgos Giakoumakis will be extremely threatening in the attack. Hopefully, Birk Risa will recover sooner rather than later because the defense will need all of the help they can get. In addition, this will be the first game at Citi Field in 2024.

Saturday, April 13: NYCFC vs New England Revolution

The New England Revolution is also having a poor start to the season. Unlike NYCFC, this was not expected. They are putting energy into the Champions Cup, but that is no reason why they should be at the bottom of the table. Nonetheless, the home team should hope they are still drained after the quarterfinals when they face the visitors. This would give them more of an edge, and the possibility of getting a win.

Saturday April 20: NYCFC vs D.C. United

NYCFC and D.C. United will face one another for the first time in 2024 when the two teams meet. This might be the easiest game in April, but that is not to say it will be an easy task. D.C. is 2-1-3 and has Christian Benteke up front and center. The striker has arguably turned his team into a stronger one and has scored previously against the Queens' side. The Capital side also scored two goals in both matches in 2023. Hence, goals are a must if the Pigeons want to earn all three points.

Saturday, April 27: NYCFC vs Charlotte FC

The final match of April will be a rematch of the season opener. NYCFC will welcome Charlotte FC to Yankee Stadium in what is expected to be an even matchup. Of course, it will all depend on whether the Pigeons have lost most of the home games or whether they have won. The match in Charlotte was a narrow 1-0 loss, so the home team can grab a win this time around. Again, scoring goals is necessary to do so. Will the Pigeons end April with a win? Or will Cushing be on the chopping block by the end of the month?
