Truth be told, it is difficult to know what the fans will be like if the winless streak in Major League Soccer does not end this weekend. New York City FC will host the Columbus Crew in the final home game until July due to a road trip and then the World Cup break. After the loss to D.C. United last week, the Boys in Blue must find a way to pick up three points and end this streak.
Sitting at seven matches without a win in Major League Soccer, a loss to Columbus would extend it to eight games. It would not be the longest streak in NYCFC history, but it would still be too long. And truly, it is hard to tell how fans will react. Will they just be numb at this point? Will some still be angry? Will the players get booed out of Yankee Stadium as they have in past streaks?
But once again, the Pigeons are playing a team with the same record as them. The Crew is not having their best year, either. Perhaps it is because they are without their starting striker, Wessam Abou Ali, for the rest of 2026 due to an ACL tear. However, they have won their last three games out of four in all competitions, including twice in MLS. Hence, they are in a better spot right now and could upset the Bronx side at home.
Meanwhile, NYCFC's injury bug is not going away. Talles Magno and Aiden O’Neill will not be available for the upcoming match. Hannes Wolf will hopefully be able to start, but losing anyone during this winless streak does not help.

Final notes
With O’Neill out, this would be the perfect game to start Jonathan Shore and Keaton Parks in the midfield with Maxi Moralez. The two defensive midfielders worked well together last year, and it would be smart for Pascal Jansen to start them again.
