NJ/NY Gotham FC will start a busy month of games when they first host Racing Louisville FC, playing their first of two regular-season meetings of 2026. The Bats are returning home after a superb win in the Windy City against Chicago Stars FC. Now, they will strive for their third win in a row to earn three points and to move up the NWSL standings.
Meanwhile, Gotham FC also wants to beat Louisville since they did not beat them at all last year. The first fixture ended in a loss, and the second one saw the two teams share the points. 2025 was also the Kentucky team’s best season yet, for they finished in seventh place and made the postseason. Still, the NJ/NY side was expected to win, especially at home.
Now, early on in the 2026 campaign, Gotham should win based on Louisville’s early struggles. They are in 15th place and only have 4 points. The 1-4-1 record is somewhat surprising, and the Bats should take advantage. The home team had their own struggles to begin the year, but thankfully, the two recent wins have helped immensely.
More importantly, the fans want to see Sport Illustrated Stadium turn into a fortress like it was in 2024. It has been mentioned multiple times since the last offseason, but the poor home record from the last campaign was not acceptable. Gotham FC had a strong enough roster that they should have won more matches at home. Right now in 2026, the team is 1-1-2 in New Jersey. They need to be at their best in front of their fans, and a win against Racing will help them improve their record.

Final notes
Once again, everyone is waiting to see who will be available off the injury list. The Gotham FC backline has suffered injuries, forcing Guro Reiten and Midge Purce to play as the left-back and right-back, respectively. The defense has survived these last two games, but can they do it for a third if other defenders are still not available?
