The end of the first-ever CONCACAF W Champions Cup is finally here.  NJ/NY Gotham FC will play in the finals after winning 3-1 against Club América Femenil.  As such, this will be the second time the Bats will meet Tigres in the tournament, for the teams met in the group round.  That match ended in a 4-4 draw and was probably one of the craziest games from the group round.  So, would the same thing happen again?

Since Gotham is a drastically different roster, it is difficult to predict what will occur.  Plus, the Bats have played really good games, like they did against the Washington Spirit, and poor ones like the loss to Portland Thorns FC.  What they need to do is capture the matches where they scored multiple goals but allowed none or a maximum of one.

Meanwhile, this is an exciting moment for the NJ/NY team.  They are one of two sides playing for the first Champions Cup trophy and the lone representative of the NWSL.  Winning would do wonders for the squad, and ideally would act as a boost to get back on track in league play.  After all, they have not won since the Spirit win, drawing once and losing twice in the last three matches.

In addition, the international break is next, so losing could have a negative mental impact on the roster.  Winning is vital for Gotham FC. The NJ/NY team wants to enter the break with a trophy and not another loss that they were dismantled in or could have won.

Final Notes

Saturday would be a great time for Esther González to find the back of the net again.  After scoring seven goals in four matches, the forward has not scored in the last four in all competitions.  If the Spaniard scores against Tigres, then Gotham FC will have a stronger likelihood of winning.
