NJ/NY Gotham FC will return home after a solid trip out west. The team beat San Diego Wave FC in the NWSL and Vancouver Rise FC Academy in the CONCACAF W Champions Cup game. Then, they shared the points with Bay FC, which was somewhat disappointing, but it was still a point on the road.
Now, the Bats will welcome Portland Thorns FC to Sports Illustrated Stadium in what will be a tough and challenging matchup. They swept the Thorns in 2024 and won two of three meetings in 2023. But this year, they lost awfully in the City of Roses, losing 4-1. Hence, the NJ/NY side will try to reverse those misfortunes by winning on their home soil. In addition, they also do not want the draw against Bay FC to spark some troublesome times again.
Before the last match, Gotham FC won five games in a row in all competitions. Now, they are unbeaten in their last eight. Things appear to be moving in the right direction. The Bats must find a way to beat Portland, for a draw at home would cause some concern. At the very least, the last series of games has been better for the home side, for the Thorns are 1-2-2 over their last five fixtures. In addition, the previous two games have ended in 1-1 draws.
Ideally, the recent form will aid Gotham FC to all three points. But they will need everyone to play their best. Hopefully, the team is well rested after their West Coast trip and will be at the top of their game offensively and defensively.

The game will be the Celebración de la Comunidad, in which Gotham will celebrate the local Hispanic communities of the tri-state area. The usual Fan Fest will take place, but there will be Latin food options, dance lessons, and more. The different cultures will be on full display, so the Fan Fest should be a fun one.
