Gotham FC vs Kansas City Current: How to watch, time, and more of Summer Cup finals
- Gotham FC and the Kansas City Current will face off in the Summer Cup finals
- Here is how to watch the game, the time, and more
The international break might be in full swing, but NJ/NY Gotham FC has another game to play. The Bats will head to Texas to take on the Kansas City Current in the NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup final. It might be odd that the final is happening in the fall, but that is how the scheduling worked. The group round matches and semifinals were played during the Olympic break. The Bats finished at the top of their group and beat Angel City FC in the semifinals to make the last game of the tournament.
Similar to the summer, the teams will be missing quite a few players due to international duty. Gotham will be without five USWNT players: Rose Lavelle, Jenna Nighswonger, Yazmeen Ryan, Emily Sonnett, and Lynn Williams. In addition, Jess Carter will be with England while Ann-Katrin Berger will be away with Germany. Then, there are still some players missing due to injury. Everyone will receive a better picture of who is available once the injury report is released.
Still, this game will be difficult for Gotham FC since it will be against Kansas City. The two teams shared the points via 1-1 draws in both NWSL games. The difference is that the defense the NJ/NY side had during the fixtures will be different due to the missing players. As such, this will be a big test for players like Mandy Freeman, Sam Hiatt, and Cassie Miller. Hiatt scored her first goal of the season recently against the Orlando Pride.
Meanwhile, Gotham FC’s unbeaten streak of 11 games in all competitions will be on the line. The Bats will not only want to win the Summer Cup, but they will want to keep the streak alive.
