Every Gotham FC fan should have these items on their 2025 holiday wish list

Right now, NJ/NY Gotham FC players are hopefully enjoying a much-deserved vacation after they won the 2025 NWSL Championship about a month ago. Plus, it is the holiday season, and today is Christmas. The ladies are hopefully celebrating with family and friends, and for those who celebrated Hanukkah, hopefully they had a lovely eight nights.

Of course, the new season will be here sooner rather than later. Gotham FC will play their first competitive match at the end of January when the team participates in the FIFA Women's Champions Cup. Then, the NWSL should begin in March, and the Bats will try to have a stronger regular season compared to 2025.

In the meantime, since it is the holiday season, fans probably have some wishes for the team as they head into the new year. It would be great for these wishes to come true, and maybe they will.

Therefore, here are some holiday wishes for Gotham FC.

2025 holiday wishes for Gotham FC

1. The first wish is one every Gotham FC fan can get behind since it is for the Bats to compete for the NWSL Shield. The Kansas City Current ran away with the Shield in 2025, leaving everyone in the dust. Hopefully, the NJ/NY side can compete and improve their points total from the previous campaign. Ending the regular season in eighth place was not ideal, so this should be a major goal for the ladies.

2. The second wish is that Tierna Davidson will return and play at 100%. The center-back suffered an ACL tear early in 2025, and that meant her powerhouse partnership with Emily Sonnett was broken up for the season. Gotham was still strong defensively compared to the other NWSL teams, but it was not like 2024. Having Davidson back at 100% will be exactly what the team needs.

3. Another wish is for Gotham FC to win more trophies. The team won two in 2025, so it would be great to continue adding to the trophy cabinet.

4. This has been mentioned previously, but the Bats need to add another prolific scorer. When the team struggled in 2025, it was usually when the scoring boots were a little quiet. Esther González had to do the bulk of the work, and the team cannot fully rely on her. Hence, the wish is for the club to bring in someone else who could score double-digit goals, whether it be a forward or midfielder.

5. Gotham cannot just make this wish, but the wish is for attendance to grow. In this case, the club has to do better work in finding ways to get people to attend Sports Illustrated Stadium. More fans have been attending matches in person over the last couple of years. However, compared to other teams, the Bats should be bringing in more supporters. Sure, some might prefer to watch from home and might live too far away. But at the very least, the club should be able to bring in those who only go to a game or two a year, and do so regularly.

6. The final wish is for everyone to stay healthy. Over the last few seasons, there has always been someone who has suffered major injuries, especially ACL tears. Taryn Torres and McCall Zerboni suffered ACL tears in 2023, and then Midge Purce was the big loss in 2024. As mentioned, Davidson tore her ACL at the beginning of last season, and Torres did it again in the middle of the campaign. So, may Gotham FC be healthier when it comes to major injuries, and hopefully, nobody will tear their ACL.
