NJ/NY Gotham FC's 2025 regular season is getting closer to the end. With four NWSL matches to go, and a CONCACAF W Champions Cup game, there is a lot to look forward to. At the same time, the team must continue to gather points in the NWSL, for third through eighth place is separated by five points after 22 games.
Currently, Gotham FC is in third place with 34 points. The win over Portland Thorns FC this past weekend helped them stay in the top four of the table. Some of the other results around them also went in the right direction. Nevertheless, the fact that so many teams are so close makes every last fixture a playoff game. Plus, based on goal differential in the Champions Cup, the team will want to win their final group round matchup.
In October, Gotham will play four matches. Here is a look at the upcoming schedule.
Gotham FC's October 2025 schedule
Wednesday, October 1: Gotham FC vs Washington Spirit
Similar to the last home Champions Cup, Gotham FC will play at a special location for one night only. This time, they will play the Washington Spirit at Subaru Park, the home of the Philadelphia Union in Major League Soccer. Right now, the Bats sit in first place in Group B, but only because they have played one more fixture compared to the Spirit. Since the D.C. team has a better goal differential, the NJ/NY side must win to ensure that they will end the group round in first place. As always, it will not be easy, but they can beat Washington.
Sunday, October 5: Gotham FC vs Seattle Reign FC
One point separates Gotham and Seattle Reign FC. Therefore, this is the first of four critical NWSL games that will feel like a playoff matchup. It will also be the first time that some of the former Bats return to New Jersey, Lynn Biyendolo and Cassie Miller. Although, both have been injured, so there is the question of whether they make the trip. Regardless, the focus must be on winning. The Reign recently won two of their last three matches, including their last one. The home side must ensure they keep players like Emiri Adames and Jess Fishlock from scoring.
Saturday, October 11: Gotham FC at Kansas City Current
The most difficult game of the month will be against the Kansas City Current. The NWSL Shield winners have been on fire all season long. In complete honesty, it might take some soccer miracles for Gotham FC to win on the road. The Bats have already lost to the Current this season and have found the team to be a challenging opponent. This might be a match where Esther González scoring a brace is necessary.
Sunday, October 19: Gotham FC vs Racing Louisville FC
The last home game of the season will be against Racing Louisville FC. The visitors sit in eighth place at this time, so a few points may separate the teams. However, Gotham FC will want to win in front of their fans, especially if it is still up in the air about whether they will host a playoff game. More importantly, the Bats will want revenge after losing on the road to Louisville earlier in the season.
