After an MLS Cup-winning season, New York City FC has announced its roster options ahead of the 2022 season and winter transfer window.

The following players have had their contract options declined:

  • Jesus Medina
  • Juan Pablo Torres
  • Gudi Thórarinsson
  • Tony Rocha

Maxi Moralez has been confirmed to be out of contract ahead of 2022, but NYCFC has announced that they are currently in negotiations to renew his contract.

Elsewhere, the following players earned new contracts.

  • Hèber
  • Cacha Acevedo
  • Gedion Zelalem

Of course, players having their options declined isn’t indicative of NYCFC completely parting ways with them. It does, however, reveal who they’ll leave unprotected in the 2021 MLS Expansion Draft.

Let’s see what the future holds.
